i was asked last minute to do the cover for this ‘slam book’ for rudy’s barbershop in nyc, i had fun workin on it but it’s quite likely they wont use this, or if they do they’re gonna change it. all good i guess, still a learning experience.

i can’t recall just when i thought of this board graphic, must have been back in ‘08-‘09, but the idea just sat in my head for the longest n i dont even know what was stopping me from painting it. but one day, i finally picked up a brush n primed the board, next day i drew on it so clean n i was so proud. i told the owner of classic skate shop about my idea n he was souped on it n wanted to collab, and then.. i rarely painted the deck. everyone would ask about it n i guess i wanted it to be so true to my vision i only tackled it when i truly felt it was right. couldn’t rush it for anyone else. what tripped me out tho was that my dude at the shop wanted it for free n said i wouldn’t be makin a cut if they printed the deck n sold it at the shop.

just got back from catchin daedelus, samiyam, and the gaslamp killer at le poisson rouge in ny not too long ago n man, i dont even know what to say. shit was ill. had a nice L walk home from the train station too.

i’m jus trippin cuz i was done with this cd for a while but i didnt get started on the cover til i heard that samiyam was comin to the city. i actually missed some of sam’s set cuz i was puttin finishing touches n cuttin the covers to put in cases. i think it was worth it though.. got to give sam a special copy of the mix! hollaaa!

i hope whoever else received a copy enjoys it. if not thats cool. it was just some shit that kinda happened over time. didnt think it’d get like this. n for those that are curious i did the cover in colored pencil & watercolor, 4.75” x 4.75”
